Moroeni Retreat Interiors | The Wabi-Sabi Experience
Pucheni Village, Moroeni, Dâmbovița County
In progress (2024-2026)
Complementing the architectural vision of the resort in the heart of the Moroeni forest, the interior design of the accommodation spaces proposes a sensory escape from the everyday. The concept is a true declaration of love for nature, a return to the essentials, where spaces are not merely decorated, but "sculpted" to induce a state of profound tranquility and introspection.
The design is deeply anchored in the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, the philosophy that celebrates the subtle beauty of imperfection, the honesty of raw materials, and the charm of the passage of time. Each apartment and studio thus becomes a private sanctuary. The volumetries take full advantage of the pitched roofs, where ample skylights cut out the sky and guide natural light to wash over the textured surfaces of the walls. Furniture elements seem to grow organically from the architecture of the room: beds placed on solid platforms, built-in masonry benches that invite contemplation, and interior stairs with a fluid flow.
An earthy chromatic palette, based on warm shades of sand, beige, and luminous gray, visually connects the rooms, allowing the exterior to remain the main spectacle. The tactile contrast, so important in this project, is ensured by the dialogue between fine plasters, the roughness of the exposed brick walls — whether painted white or left in their natural shade — and the warmth of massive, reclaimed wood, found in spectacularly patinated doors and structural beams.
A distinctive element of the Moroeni experience is the bathroom areas, fluidly and almost invisibly integrated into the resting space. The bathtubs sunken directly into the floor, scenographically lit by oversized circular windows or skylights, transform the grooming ritual into a private spa experience, an intimate and soothing connection with the liquid element.
