Snagov Forest | Private Residences
Snagov, Ilfov
Ongoing (Project and execution management)
Located in the northern area of Bucharest, in a context defined by the proximity to the forest and the pursuit of tranquility, the project comprises three luxury residences conceived as natural retreats. The design strategy aimed to eliminate any visual aggression on the site, opting for a simple yet highly expressive volumetry. Each villa is composed of two distinct volumes — the day area and the night area — subtly articulated through a transparent glass prism, which functions as an immaterial transition space between functions.
The architecture of the three villas rejects cold minimalism, seeking instead a warm modernity, defined by light. The generous glazed surfaces were calculated to maximize the perception of the forest from any point inside, while the center of gravity of the living area is marked by the presence of the fireplace — a reinterpreted ancestral element, meant to anchor the atmosphere and provide a focal point of tranquility. The interior thus becomes an extension of the exterior, where visual barriers disappear, making way for a state of presence and regeneration.
The exterior slate cladding offers a warm mineral texture, while on the inside, natural stone and engineered wood anchor the space in the organic realm. The project integrates the NZEB standard through advanced thermal insulation solutions and efficient technologies, with the rigor of execution extending to the outdoor space. Here, the swimming pools are protected by modern wooden pergolas, suspended by metal tie rods, achieving a precise junction between the technical structure and the landscape aesthetics.
