Pavilion H | Summer Garden Structure

Dobroești (near Bucharest)

Execution starting 2026

The Pavilion H project took shape from a family's desire to benefit from a modern summer kitchen, a socialization space deeply anchored in the nature of the garden. The proposed volumetry is intentionally simple, rectangular in shape, letting materiality and light become the main characters of the design.

The concept relies on an honest and balanced duality of textures: half concrete, half wood. Inside, the ceiling is defined by a system of wooden beams that form a geometric play of coffers, their rhythm being strategically interrupted by skylights that bring natural light into the heart of the space. In an architectural gesture of remarkable fluidity, the wooden coffers descend from the ceiling onto one of the walls, organically transforming into furniture pieces. Thus, the functional features transcend the status of mere decoration and become an integral part of the pavilion's architecture.

The textured coldness of the areas where the concrete was intentionally left exposed is tempered by the warmth of the wood, the continuous microcement flooring, and the generous glazed openings. The large windows cancel the boundary between inside and outside, completely opening the pavilion towards the courtyard. The transition to the green space is mediated by alleys and a gravel sidewalk, which accentuates the connection with nature. A unique architectural detail with a poetic touch is the rainwater collection system: the classic downspout was replaced by a chain that hangs freely between the gutter and the gravel sidewalk. Here, the landscaping continues the architectural language through a circular socialization area: a special place dedicated to the barbecue, surrounded by poured concrete benches, which invites gathering and balance in the open air.
